Insurance Claims Handler

Ipswich, Suffolk (Hybrid working)
Full time, Permanent
Up to £23,000

Reed Specialist Recruitment are currently partnering with a local Insurance firm who are looking to grow their successful team. This role would suit an someone who has worked within Insurance / Claims before, and is looking for a role that offers a clear progression route. With hybrid working on offer, the team usually spend 2 days a week working from home.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

• To regularly keep in communication with account handlers to update them on claims and plans to resolve.

• To deal with clients and brokers regarding notifications and claims.

• To present claims to underwriters, dealing with queries and providing feedback to clients.

• To monitor claims stats, and identify ways of improving service.

• To develop and maintain external relationships to ensure positive results for each client.

• Assist the business in cross selling, and increasing income opportunities.

• To handle any complaints in accordance with the company policy.

• Achieve and maintain an exceptional level of customer service, and to promote excellent service.

Required skills and experience:

You will have fantastic communication skills, and will be able to communicate efficiently with people of various levels. You will have high interpersonal skills, and will be friendly and personable. You will be client focused, and always want the best for your clients. If you are a team player, and someone who is able to problem solve in a rapid manner, then this role would suit your skillset. You will need to have worked within an office environment previously, ideally within insurance and be able to handle multiple tasks at once.

The Team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Institutional Team. Reporting to the Head of UK Institutional you will play a vital role in delivering initiatives designed to transform and elevate our Third Party Insurance Business in Aegon Asset Management.

The Role

As an Insurance Business Development Manager you will develop the UK and Ireland Insurance proposition by managing the BD Strategy and generating sales opportunities from existing and new prospects. You will be responsible for sales activities, revenue generation and a tactical approach to prospective Insurance business opportunities.

Key responsibilities
• Work with the Head of UK Institutional Business on the UK and Ireland insurance strategy in line with the wider business strategy. This includes:

Defining coverage and responsibilities

Building external reputation as an investment provider for the Insurance market

Agreeing which products to focus on for each submarket i.e., life or general insurers

Obtaining and attending meetings with Insurance researchers and in house investment teams

Build and progress a pipeline of opportunities with insurance companies

Reporting / providing regular updates of progress made to the broader business

Maintain up-to-date records on sales and marketing activity on Salesforce.
• Actively engage with new and existing prospects and maintain activities to achieve business as per agreed targets. Establish personal and company credibility, identify appropriate solutions, build client relationships and close on opportunities.
• Regularly attend industry events and conferences in order to engage with prospects and increase brand awareness.
• Leverage the experience within the investment solutions team in order segment the market and create a systematic approach of prospects including mapping, tiering and utilising/updating databases.
• Build a good understanding of the various asset classes within the Aegon Group to be ready to speak about them where deemed appropriate.
• Develop and update investment knowledge of AAM Europe and Group's products and the general investment markets. This involves fulfilling all training and compliance requirements, as necessary, and ensuring personal knowledge is always up to date and of sufficient depth.
• Co-ordinate sales activities with other internal departments, eg, client servicing, marketing, RFP Team, product development and investment management functions. This involves the development of relationships with fund managers and support staff, and the provision of feedback on market and client knowledge to support and develop business strategy.
• Working closely with the marketing team on insurance specific campaigns and events to increase brand awareness and engagement.
• Support the management of RFP and RFI processes to ensure efficient delivery
• Responsible for compliance with the regulatory and legislative regime as it impacts your role and for ensuring that risks are identified, reported and managed accordingly.
• In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by his/her manager from time to time so long as such duties are within the scope and ability of the job holder.

Knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of the UK & Irish Insurance market and a broader knowledge of the wider investment world, including other institutional client types.
• Excellent technical knowledge of all markets, and the ability to communicate this appropriately.
• Experience researching and cold calling new prospects
• Proven sales track record.
• Educated to graduate level, or equivalent, preferably with a further investment qualification.
• Be a good corporate citizen and work collaboratively to ensure team success
